Selichot Program & Service

This year, AJ is highlighting the important work of the St. John Center, a 501(c)(3), organization working to help Louisville become a city where all homeless men have the resources and support they need to leave homelessness for good! Volunteers and donations are gratefully accepted by calling 502.568.6758 from 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. or by emailing [email protected] For more information, check out their website at www.stjohncenter.org.

 

Schedule of Events:

  • 7:30 p.m. - Learn about the important work of the St. John Center and their mission to help homeless men address barriers to self-sufficiency and housing so that they may leave homelessness for good. Enjoy music by Cantor Lipp and a special musical guest! 
  • 9:00 p.m. - Havdalah and Refreshments!
  • 9:30 p.m. - Selichot Worship Service

Why do we observe Selichot?

Selichot are special prayers for forgiveness. At the Selichot service, worshippers begin to examine their deeds of the past year, seeking forgiveness from God, and promising to improve their behavior in the New Year.
